I’ve gradually become more and more fascinated by nutrition, and the effects it has on our well-being but in particular our skin, hair and energy levels… the list goes on.
As you get older you begin to educate yourself on what you should and shouldn’t be eating by connecting what you eat with how you look and feel.
However, no matter how much I think I know, in reality I don’t know the half of it, so when I heard about the nutrition talk “Beauty from the Inside” taking place at the EF Medispa I just had to go.
Clinical Nutritionist, Kim Pearson & Colonic Hydrotherapist, Michelle Laud talked about how to lead a healthy lifestyle by tackling gluten.
Kim began by really emphasising how unnatural gluten is (the word is derived from the Latin for ‘glue’ – enough said) starting with interested facts about what humans ate centuries ago – did you know that humans have only been eating wheat, aka gluten, in the last 10,000 years even though they have been around for about 10 million years!
Michelle talked about Colonic Hydrotherapy (also know as colonic irrigation); a treatment used to cleanse your body of any unnecessary waste and toxins. It involves a gentle infusion of water into the colon by means of special disposable tubing. Something that, in typical British fashion, just isn’t talked about too much, however is said to really help tackle problematic areas and also provide a ‘spring clean’ for your body to bring it back to its balanced state. So really should be more widely known about and nothing to be embarassed to discuss.
Even though gluten is bad for you, I personally don’t believe you should cut it out completely, as they say ‘everything in moderation’. Kim made a good point supporting this that gluten-free products can be highly processed with numerous additives. So just be aware of your gluten intake and limit it.
I want to say a massive thank you to the EF Medispa team, who were all so friendly, helpful and put on a really insightful event.
